Advice on Critiquing a Draft
Chapter 3 provides some guidelines on critiquing a draft developed in a collaborative effort. This process is often referred to as peer editing. In groups of two or three, do an Internet search for the phrase “peer editing.” Look for checklists, guidelines, and tips for peer editing. Are there some tips, techniques, or suggestions you would add to the guidelines in Chapter 3? Are there things you shouldn’t do while peer editing? How can the process be improved or made more effective and efficient? As a group, write a checklist for peer editing that consists of 10 or 15 items you have uncovered in your search. Be prepared to share the list with the rest of the class.
