Reporting on the Audience and Purpose of a Website
Form groups of three or four. Each group will study a different website and make a brief extemporaneous presentation. In your presentation, answer these questions:
What are the various audiences for this site?
What are the various purposes of the site?
How effective is the site in addressing the needs of its audiences and fulfilling its purposes?
To answer these questions, consider the following factors:
the paragraph and sentence structure and the vocabulary of the text
the kinds of graphics included in the site
the visual design and use of colors and animation on the home page
the links in the site: the kinds of information available in files other than the home page
