1. Imagine that you are a member of the Diggers sometime between 1966 and 1968. Write a script for a short “guerrilla theater” performance. The play should reflect one or more of the Diggers’ political or social concerns, such as the evolution of the counterculture, the Vietnam War, or the Free Movement. 2. Imagine you are a reporter covering the Death of Hippie parade in 1967. Write a newspaper article describing the event and its meaning. Include quotations from actual or imagined sources, as you try to explain the counterculture to a mainstream American audience. Include a picture or illustration. 3. Using the information provided in this unit, write a short reflection piece (two to three paragraphs) on the meaning of a “Free City” and how the Diggers attempted to create one.
