Dr. Seuss, “Waiting for the Signal from Home” (cartoon), PM Magazine, February 13, 1942

During World War II, writer and cartoonist Theodore Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss, published more than four hundred political cartoons for PM Magazine, a New York City newspaper. While he was very liberal on his views toward African Americans and Jews, Geisel’s perspective on the Japanese Americans was more in line with many other Americans who viewed them with suspicion.
