After completing a literary analysis, turn back to the After Writing questions in Chapter 3 and respond to as many of them as you can.
Next, reflect in writing about how you might apply the insights that you drew from the literary analysis to another situation—in or outside of college—in which you have to analyze something. If no specific situations come to mind, imagine that
in a history course, you examine media portrayals of civil rights demonstrations from both the 1960s and today, analyzing journalists’ choices about what to focus on, whom to interview, and how to describe the events. This process enables you to draw fresh conclusions about how such portrayals have changed over time or how they have remained the same.
