Distribution of the drug fluconazole. After having been taken in, compounds distribute themselves to various organs within the body. The distribution of the antifungal agent fluconazole has been monitored through the use of positron emission tomography (PET) scanning. These images were taken of a healthy human volunteer 90 minutes after injection of a dose of 5 mg kg−1 of fluconazole containing trace amounts of fluconazole labeled with the positron-emitting isotope 18F.
