Strong and Independent Looking at this graph, do you wonder why twice as many 5- to 17-year-olds as 18- to 24-year-olds are said to be limited in daily activities? The answer relates to who reports the limitations. Parents answer for children; adults answer for themselves. Parents tend to be more protective, reporting that chronic conditions (mostly ADHD and asthma) limit what their children can do. Emerging adults are strong and capable—and they say they are even when they are not.
