Hope and Laughter Maslow studied law before psychology, and he enjoyed deep discussions with many psychoanalytic theorists who escaped Nazi Europe. Nonetheless, he believed the human spirit could overcome oppression and reach self-actualization, where faith, hope, and humor abound.
