The Traffic Is Killing Me
The Environmental Defense Fund is an organization that helps find solutions to environmental problems for businesses, communities, and government. The following billboard, placed in high-traffic areas of New York City, advocates for what is known as “congestion pricing,” a plan that proposes that city motorists be charged to drive in extremely heavily traveled parts of the city during peak traffic times. The plan was ultimately not implemented in New York, but is a policy in other cities, including London and Stockholm. (For more on the EDF’s work in this area, see their “Greening Transportation” page.)
