PRACTICE
Want to experiment? Draft your own personal statement.
Find a scholarship you’d like to apply for. You can do this by consulting with your school’s financial aid department or searching online. Do a little research about the organization, and read the scholarship application directions carefully, paying particular attention to whether or not the organization wants certain questions answered in the personal statement. Then draft a personal statement that connects your experiences and qualifications to the organization’s values. Focus on telling a story about an experience you had that demonstrates your qualifications.
