Use the Pre-test to See What You Know
If assigned, units begin with a pre-test. By answering questions before you study, you’ll get a perspective on what you already know.
If you get 9 or more questions correct, congratulations! You know a great deal, and you can move through the unit quickly.
- Read the introduction and watch the video.
- Skim the study pages.
- Practice with LearningCurve.
- Attempt the post-test, if assigned.
If you get 7-8 questions correct, good job! The unit will help refresh your memory before you practice with LearningCurve and attempt the post-test.
- Read the introduction and watch the video.
- Read through the study pages.
- Check if the questions you missed on the pre-test were similar. If they were alike, then pay special attention to the study pages covering that material.
- Practice with LearningCurve.
- Attempt the post-test, if assigned.
If you get 6 or fewer questions correct, work carefully through this unit. Aim to study across several days, so plan your time for the week accordingly.
- Read the introduction and watch the video.
- Read the study pages, maybe several times.
- Try to explain each example in your own words.
- Try copying and pasting the examples into a document so that you can print them for color-coding or other mark-up strategies.
- If your course also uses a textbook, review the relevant chapter and practice quizzes in the book as well.
- Check if the questions you missed on the pre-test were similar. If they were alike, then pay special attention to the study pages covering that material. Spend extra time on the examples in these sections.
