You asked, Dr. Taylor Answers
How did you communicate thoughts and ideas to others when you weren’t able to effectively express yourself?
Speaker: I communicated my thoughts and feelings behaviorally. If the lights were too bright, I would bury my head and people would turn down the lights. If the sound was too loud, I would block my ears and people gave me earplugs.
If I was hungry-- it's pretty easy to communicate to someone that you're hungry. If you're not happy-- imagine how much you can communicate if you were dropped down into the middle of China and you don't speak any language. You still have tremendous ability to communicate with them through facial expression and through grunts. So I had my own language and people were attentive to that.
