Chapter 1. Gender Socialization

This video discusses the concept of the gender socialization process and how it begins early in childhood. Children learn by an early age whether they identify as a boy or girl and are able to identity the gender of those around them. Children then begin to generalize these concepts and are sensitive to gender cues. The gender socialization process teaches both the meaning and significant of gender-based differences and roles.
