Chapter 1. Similarities and Differences Between Men and Women

This video describes the concept of gender socialization. Specifically, the idea of “doing gender” is addressed and how males and females are held accountable in society to act either masculine or feminine. Furthermore, researchers discussed the myth that men and women are fundamentally different. It is posited that men and women are more alike than different and differences between genders are small in magnitude. Interestingly, the researchers note that there is greater variation within a gender than between genders.
