Marilyn vos Savant who, at age 10, correctly answered every question on an IQ test designed for adults. According to the scoring procedure, this gave her a mental age of 22 years, 11 months, and (by applying the IQ formula in the text) an IQ of 228—the highest IQ of any known person. Her IQ, remarkable though it is, raises questions about what one can achieve through IQ alone. Ms. Savant has made a career writing magazine columns about puzzles, games, and simple facts of science. “Look at Barack Obama, look at how he is applying his intelligence,” one critic says. “It just sort of seems strange to me that instead of dealing with more complex problems, a lot of what she does is just answer riddles or simple research things, things that anybody could go to a library and look up the answer to” (Knight, 2009).
