Questions to Keep in Mind

1. As you skim specialized articles, create a PACT chart to consider important issues, such as: What about this topic will interest your audience? What within their context can be connected to the article? What does your text need to do to grab your audience’s interest?
2. Find some examples of online magazines of the sort you’re writing for. What specialized topics are they translating?
3. How do articles in these online magazines treat technical terms? Do they use technical terms and explain them, or do they avoid technical terms altogether?
4. Do academics or researchers show up in these articles? If so, how are they portrayed? Are they quoted or just “shown”?
