Overview

For this scenario, you’ll create an ad that parodies something — an ad that appears to support that thing but, on second glance, can be seen as criticizing or making fun of it. There is an example of a parody ad in the Background Text section if you’re not familiar with the genre.

The specific topic of the ad is up to you (with your instructor’s approval). Your goal should be a text that is witty or sophisticated, not one that simply attacks or mocks. The audience should be college students like you. The final format can be a mockup of an ad for a website, newspaper, or magazine that students might read or a poster for display on campus bulletin boards.
