The purchasing power parity of a currency is the rate of exchange at which currency used to purchase an amount of goods in one country can purchase the same amount of goods in another country.

Many services, such as playing a video game at a gaming center, are not easily traded. Therefore, price differences will exist based on the country’s standard of living, and often will not reflect purchasing power parity with other countries.
