Analyzing Your Audience Choose a topic appropriate for an informative or persuasive speech in your class. Next, make informal observations about class demographics—like age, gender, and ethnic make-up. If you’re taking this course online, make your observations by reading through student profile pages or self-introduction postings. Use your audience analysis to develop a specific purpose for your speech topic that is appropriate for the class. Write one or two paragraphs explaining how your demographic observations justify your specific purpose.
