Girl: Hi Jacob. How are you doing?

Jacob: Fine. Just fine.

Girl: OK. I realize this is awkward.

Jacob: You think? How are you doing? Destroying new lives recently?

Girl: I don't think this is the right time or place to be talking about that. If you want, I'll hang around after class and maybe we can talk then?

[sigh]

Jacob: Can't believe it. Out of everyone I get paired up with you.

Girl: I'm hoping we can work through this. Look, we have 20 minutes to get something done. I already have a few ideas about the project, but I really like to hear yours first. I know you're really angry with me and I admire you for that because it shows that you're a loyal friend. But we have to work together. Can't we put the past behind us for the sake of this project?

Jacob: Fine. Let's get on with it. But I do want to talk to you afterwards.

Girl: OK. So how should we start? Do you have a topic in mind?

Jacob: Yeah. I was thinking that we could start over here.

Girl: OK. That looks great.
