“First Pictures Inside Bomb Blasted Japan”
This is a 9-minute long black-and-white newsreel video with music and narration covering major events after the end of conflict in the Second World War’s Pacific. The first segment shows images of Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and other Japanese cities, including Tokyo, followed by the release of American prisoners from Ōfuna. The reel finishes on a lighter note with a story about President Truman attending a baseball game, and follows General Wainwright’s homecoming tour.
