Spencer R. Weart

Spencer R. Weart (b. 1942) is a physicist and historian. Until 2009, he was director of the Center for History of Physics at the American Institute of Physics. Weart first wrote Nuclear Fear in 1988 but revised and updated the book in 2012. The selection found here is from a new chapter, titled “Tyrants and Terrorists,” added in the 2012 edition.
