As discussed in the textbook, positive psychology is the study of positive feelings, traits, and abilities used as a constructive means in the promotion of psychological well-being. The concept of “happiness” is the most widely known area of positive psychology, but very few adults identify themselves as happy individuals. Identification of happiness varies across gender, ethnicity, age, and socioeconomic level. Not only have our priorities as a society changed, but also our definition of happiness has transformed. Subsequently, a new focus has emerged on how these changes may impact our overall mental health.
