“Is there anybody out there?” Schizophrenia is often depicted in positive terms in the arts. Pink Floyd’s hugely popular album and movie The Wall, for example, follows the lead of R. D. Laing and portrays the disorder as a constructive inward search undertaken by some people to cure themselves of confusion and unhappiness caused by society.
