Raising public awareness In order to better educate the public about suicide’s far reach, many organizations now hold special remembrances. Here the organization Active Minds sponsors an exhibit of 1,100 backpacks at Montclair State University in New Jersey. The backpacks represent the number of college students who die by suicide each year.
