For example, in a couple, one individual may be dominant on one issue (such as finances) while the other makes the decisions on others (such as child rearing); in a work environment, several employees may split the responsibilities of a given project, with one member making financial decisions, another in charge of creative ones, and a third in charge of communicating all those decisions to others outside the group.
