Examine Your Treatment of Counterarguments

As you review how you’ve addressed counterarguments, put yourself in your readers’ place. Doing so allows you to pose reasonable arguments that contradict your overall claim about the issue. If you believe a counterargument is plausible and likely to be raised by your readers, make sure you’ve responded to it. Your response need not be lengthy, but it should let readers know that you’ve considered the counterargument and found it less effective than the argument you’re making.
