After you’ve considered the overall look and feel of the Web site, begin designing your page. It’s easy to start by sketching your design on a piece of paper or in a graphics editing program. Once you’ve sketched out a design, ask yourself whether it conforms to the overall look and feel of the Web site on which your page will appear. If it doesn’t, revise your design. Once you’ve decided that your sketch will provide a good foundation for designing your page, decide how you’ll control the layout of the page. Depending on the tool you use to create your page, you might be able to choose from a set of templates, some of which are designed to suit different types of content (for example, a page built to display news headlines or a page designed around large chunks of text). If you prefer to place each design element yourself to fit your content, most Web editing programs will allow you to do so.
