Organize Your Presentation

The organizing pattern you select for your presentation should help you achieve your purpose and meet the expectations of your readers. It should also be consistent with your line of argument. If you are giving a presentation to an audience, as opposed to creating a presentation that will be read in digital form, you should consider other factors as well, such as your audience’s inability to refer back to what you’ve already presented if they get confused or can’t recall something you said earlier. As a result, you might find it useful to summarize key ideas or information at various points in the presentation, to forecast what you’ll be talking about in the next part of your presentation, to be open to questions from the audience, and even to ask for questions at particular points.
