Provide In-Text References and Publication Information

The specific format of your in-text citations will depend on the documentation system you are following. If you use MLA or APA style, you will refer to sources in the text of your document using a combination of attributions and parenthetical information and will include a list of sources at the end of your document. The works cited list (MLA) or references list (APA) includes the following key publication information about each source:

author(s) and/or editor(s)
title
publication date
publisher and city of publication (for books)
periodical name, volume, issue, and page numbers (for articles)
URL and access date (for online publications)

Each documentation system creates an association between in-text citations and the works cited or references list. See Chapters 21 and 22 for documentation models.
