Memoirs

A memoir is a narrative that presents and reflects on personal experience, usually from a writer’s past. Memoirs can vary greatly in length, from a few hundred words to multiple-volume books. Writers of shorter memoirs often focus on a specific moment and address readers of a particular publication, such as a newspaper, magazine, journal, or Web site. Writers of longer (book-length) memoirs usually address a more general audience of readers who share their interest in a certain aspect of their lives. Regardless of length, writers of memoirs usually employ the first-person point of view (I, me, we), emphasize text over visuals, and look for ways to make their personal stories relevant for readers.
