In Process: Searching the Web

Dwight Haynes learned about promising subjects by searching for information on the Web.

Dwight used a search engine to look for Web sites with keywords such as alcohol, higher education, drinking, college, students, and awareness. His searches allowed him to identify and locate enough sources that he was able to get a good initial understanding of the subject. Because he was particularly interested in how colleges respond to student drinking, he decided to download a study written by E. R. Weitzman and her colleagues at the Harvard School of Public Health, who had found correlations between a particular type of alcohol prevention campaign — the environmental approach — and reduced alcohol consumption among students.
