When you’re caught up in the details of presenting a solution, it’s easy to lose sight of whether the solution will actually work. During your review, ask whether the solution you’ve proposed can be put into practice given the time, funding, and resources that are available. If you suspect that you’ve proposed a solution that might not be cost-effective — such as solving the problem of rising tuition costs by giving everyone who wants to attend college a $100,000 scholarship, a solution that would cost taxpayers roughly $1.8 trillion — reconsider your solution. Similarly, if the time and resources necessary to achieve a solution are simply not available, take another look at your options.
