Cell Phone Use for Internet Access, Worldwide. Would you expect that residents of richer countries tend to use their cell phones to browse the Internet more often than residents of poorer countries? The Pew Global Attitudes Project conducted a study⁵ of cell phone usage in countries around the world. The table shows x = the per capita gross domestic product (GDP, a measure of the wealth of the country), and y = the percentage of cell phone owners who use their cell phones to browse the Internet for a random sample of 10 countries.
