Section 10.3 Summary

1. This section discusses inferential methods for $p_1-p_2$, the difference between the proportions of two independent populations. Two-sample $Z$ tests for $p_1-p_2$ are discussed. These hypothesis tests may be performed using either the $p$-value method or the critical-value method.
2. $100(1-\alpha )\%$ $Z$ confidence intervals for $p_1-p_2$ are developed and illustrated.
3. We may use $Z$ confidence intervals for $p_1-p_2$ to conduct two-tailed $Z$ tests.
