But Williams also had a long history of depression and alcoholism, and had spent time in rehab for his addictions. Even when sober, the depression lingered. Williams once said that, when sober, he is “just as insecure. The demons are still there. The little voice saying ‘you’re garbage, you’re nothing’” (Whitty, 2014). In 2014, Williams hanged himself.
