Ecological Footprint

Chapter 1. Ecological Footprint

1.1 Ecological Footprint

Introduction:

The Ecological Footprint is a measure of the demands that human activities place on the biosphere. It measures the amount of productive area of land and sea that are necessary to provide for the resources a population consumes as well as to absorb the carbon emissions they create. At current rates of consumption, the human population has a footprint greater than what the planet can sustainably regenerate.
