GETTING EXPERIENCE

Developing a career plan, getting a handle on your interests, and doing industry research are all part of becoming career-minded. Another step to take in this journey is to test the waters—to get some experience in areas that interest you and for which you are well suited. Employers prefer to hire people with experience, so how can you get some? Fortunately, there are several ways you can gain experience while you are in college. Engaging in experiential learning opportunities such as service learning, volunteer activities, internships, co-op programs, and student competitions and projects are all great ways to get career-based experience.
