USE YOUR RESOURCES
- Academic Skills Center Your campus academic skills center offers more than just assistance in studying for exams. Head here for time-management advice specific to you. For instance, if you are struggling with managing the process of writing a paper, talk with a writing tutor about how to break the process into manageable steps, and create a timetable for those steps so you can meet course deadlines. If you are an online student, communicate with your instructors and other online students about how to manage time in an online environment.
- Counseling Center Make an appointment at your campus counseling office if your time-management problems involve emotional issues.
- Your Academic Adviser or Counselor If you have a good relationship with your academic adviser, ask him or her for time-management advice or for a referral to another person on campus.
- Office for Commuter Students If you commute back and forth to campus, visit the office for commuter students to see what kinds of suggestions they offer about transportation to and from campus. You may be able to reduce the amount of time you spend in transit.
- Your Peer Leader Peer leaders in college success classes are selected for their wisdom and experience. Talk to your peer leader about how he or she has developed time-management strategies.
- A Fellow Student Don’t overlook your closest resources! If you feel your time slipping away, ask a friend who is a good student for advice.
