College life offers many opportunities to meet new people and to develop a new support network. But finding friends and mentors you can trust is not always easy. What steps have you taken so far to meet new people and build a network of support in college? What can you do in the future to expand your support network?
Check out some of your fellow students’ profiles on a social media site such as Facebook or Twitter. What kinds of personal information do they share? What kinds of issues are they writing about? Do you think it is important for college students to be careful about the kind of information they post on social media sites? Why or why not?
Use your college course catalog to identify courses that focus on topics of multiculturalism and diversity. Why do you think academic departments have included these issues in the curriculum? How would studying diversity help you prepare for different academic fields and careers?
