Living Physical Geography’s structure. This book is organized around Earth’s major physical systems. Its four parts focus on the atmosphere, the biosphere, the building of the lithosphere through plate tectonics, and the wearing down of the lithosphere by the Sun’s radiant energy and by gravity. The chapters in each part are arranged in a sequence that shows the development of topics within each system. The hydrosphere plays a role within each system and is not treated as a separate system.
