1. Fluvial erosion cuts into mountains and reduces their height. Why haven’t streams worn all of Earth’s mountains flat?
2. Rocks are much harder than water. How does water carve valleys into mountains composed of solid bedrock?
3. Some stream channels naturally follow fault lines. Earthquakes make rocks there weak and easily eroded. How does this fact relate to problems with some dams on streams?
4. Do you live where it floods? What kinds of information would you need to answer this question if you do not know?
