College Success = Career Success
FORMING STUDY GROUPS
Study groups have an important place in college and at work. In college, members of study groups offer each other moral support and share ideas. At work, colleagues may form groups to study for a licensing exam, learn about a new product, design a marketing campaign, or prepare for a big meeting or presentation. Forming a study group at school can help you build teamwork skills — skills that many potential employers value.
With these advantages in mind, build a plan for forming a college study group by answering the following questions:
For which class(es) will you form a study group?
Who will you ask to be in your study group? Why?
How many people will be in your group?
How often will the group meet? Where? For how long?
If the study group is for an online class, how will the group differ from a study group created for a face-to-face class? How will you communicate with group members?
Who will be in charge of creating the agenda for each study group session?
How will you study as a group? What strategies from this chapter will you use? Why?
Now that you have a plan, don’t wait — start building your study group today so that you can begin meeting this term!
