Morality and social causes Being moral and setting a good example for others is a strong aspect of adolescents’ self-image. Morality may include advocating for the rights of minorities, including sexual minorities. Adolescents who exhibited the highest levels of moral reasoning were also the most likely to help others, to volunteer to work for social causes, or to refrain from taking part in actions that harm other people.
