Woodrow Wilson offered his own vision of progressivism in the form of the New Freedom. During the campaign of 1912, he successfully exploited the split in the Republican Party. In the following speech, originally given in New York City, he notes the fragility of “the third party” and argues that it could not fix the nation’s problems. (2:44)
