Good dialogue is hard to write. So practice. Write a one-page story mostly in dialogue. Tell readers what you must about your characters, but let most of the action occur within their words. Then read your story aloud over and over and revise it until the dialogue sounds authentic. Get feedback from your classmates and give them suggestions on their stories as well.
