How might the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety memorably celebrate its fiftieth anniversary? By crashing two cars fifty years apart in age to show how much crash safety has improved, thanks in part to the efforts of the group. Reading the Genre

The pre- and post-test images in “Crash Test” leave little doubt about progress in vehicle safety. What similar image pairings might you use to evaluate either progress or decline in some other area of human life — technology, education, lifestyles, or culture? Look for images that provide specific, convincing, and maybe even measurable evidence.
