The trp mRNA leader sequence contains an attenuator region and two tryptophan codons

In the trp mRNA leader sequence, the attenuator region precedes the trpE coding sequence. Farther upstream, at bases 54 through 59, are the two tryptophan codons (shown in red) of the leader peptide.
