Eukaryotic mRNA moves from nucleus to cytoplasm

The pulse–chase experiment showed that mRNA moves into the cytoplasm. Cells are grown briefly in radioactive uracil to label newly synthesized RNA (pulse). Cells are washed to remove the radioactive uracil and are then grown in excess nonradioactive uracil (chase). The red dots indicate the location of the RNA containing radioactive uracil over time.
