Two ways to generate double-stranded RNA from a transgene

The insertion of a transgene can lead to the production of double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) if the transgene is inserted at the end of a gene in the opposite orientation. The antisense RNA produced when the neighboring gene is transcribed can bind to the mRNA of either the transgene itself or the endogenous gene to produce dsRNA.
